I turned Scarlett out and this is the result!! One very happy bucking, rearing filly!! I'll try to post my video of her later!

Today was New Years and Scarlett and I got to play for a while and I gave her some of her favorite thing-alfalfa! She also got to play with me outside and chase me around so she had a fun day!

Scarlett's first Christmas! I just started going back to school again a couple weeks ago so Scarlett got to have a little bit of rest for her training which I think is good for her! She's still a very happy camper and whinnies when you walk by! For Christmas we got grain, apple treats (she doesn't really know how to eat so she gets to share) and a new salt block! I think that this little rest she is getting is giving her time to think about things and she loves going outside and playing with me in her pasture (chasing me around and "cutting" me! I have one happy baby!

Today was fun! I took care of Scarlett and then I took her around outside to eat some grass and just go for a little walk around the property and practice her leading outside (she feels extra good outside) which she enjoyed because she LOVES grass. Then after that I decided to give her a bath and I washed her with an iodine solution shampoo especially around her tail so she wouldn't be as itchy and then I used the conditioner we had down there and she loved it! She really seems to enjoy baths a whole lot! I won't get to see her for the next couple of days but I can't wait to see how she looks when I get back over there on Monday!

The past few days have been pretty busy for me so I haven't gotten to do too much work with Scarlett. Only enough time to feed her and clean her stall! She's been a silly girl when I clean her stall though because she has been following me around again and not leaving my side until I scratch her enough so I have had to ask my sister to brush her in the wash rack while I clean her stall so it doesn't take me as long!

Today was fun! I lunged Scarlett out for a few minutes so she could stretch her legs and she was happy and bucked a little bit too! We also practiced a lot on our showmanship. She doesn't back very straight yet so we practiced backing next to a pole and she started to get a little straighter! We also walked over and trotted over the pole a couple of times and she was good! I tried to work on side-passing, but for some reason she gets very sensitive whenever I tap her sides and she kinda goes everywhere so after a couple tries I just started rubbing her there so she would be okay with me touching her there and she didn't move every time I touch her there and that made her all happy again so she was good! I decided I would wait and let my trainer help me with the side-passing practice! She was a very happy girl though! Happy to see me after a couple of days! I hate when I don't get to see her at all; I miss her like crazy!

I haven't posted anything for a few days! We have had a pretty busy week with school and stuff and I hadn't been able to do too much with Scarlett till tonight! But today was good! Our farrier came out today to do all of our horses' feet, and Scarlett did really well! She never jumped or anything, and he was really pleased with how quiet she was and afterward he liked how sweet she was too! After he left and I was cleaning Scarlett's stall, she wouldn't leave me alone! She followed me around her stall until I scratched her and she kept putting her nose on me telling me to scratch! I was letting her distract me from my work so I let my sisters take her out and play with her, and she loved it. They're safe and quiet with her (they're 12 and 13) and she loves all the attention she can get! She had a girl at her front and a girl at her back playing with her hair and she was very happy. After that I decided it was FINALLY time to start getting her ready to clip! So I got out our clippers and took off the blades and had my sister hold her lead rope while I let Scarlett listen to and feel the vibrations of the clippers. She took it in really well and was really quiet! She is even less touchy than a couple of my other horses who detest getting their ears trimmed, and she didn't mind her ears being touched! I put the blades on at the end for a little while so she could get used to the slightly different sound, which she didn't love but was okay with, and then I took them off again! After that I got some of the De-wormer I had (which was apple flavored) and I got it set so that it would be at her weight and I wormed her, unsure whether she would like it or not. I was very surprised to find that she really enjoyed it and seemed to like the apple flavor of it! She was a very happy girl when I put her away for the night if I do say so myself!

Today we didn't do too much.. but we got to play! I turned Scarlett outside because it was so nice out, and then she didn't want me to leave! She chased me around the pasture and if I ran one way she raced me there! She was very cute bucking and rearing and enjoying herself being adorable!

Well I know that some people that checked my blog wondered why I never mentioned what the vet said about Scarlett, and that's because he hadn't been able to see her until today. I had talked to some horse people about a little whole in her neck that had discharge and they all were thinking it was strangles so I could understand their concern for her and my other horses, but it turned out that nothing is/was really wrong with her. She's never been sick and my vet (who we've used for years and has a lot of experience and skill) said that it was most likely something that just got stuck in a certain tube and got infected but it's almost all gone now and she is fine. So at the end her gave her the vaccines she needed and we talked about her worming schedule and vaccine schedule so we are set for her health care! I haven't posted anything but yesterday I went to see her and she was really good when I took her out to walk in the arena and practice picking up her feet and tying in the wash rack. I started to band her mane and I'll hopefully finish it tomorrow! Today she was really good for the vet and she was really sweet a quiet when I took off her hood for him to see her.

Today was a very good day! We had lots of people over for thanksgiving at my grandma's and the little kids wanted to ride ponies and see the horses, and when they came in to see Scarlett, she was loving it. She stayed quiet with them and tried to give them kisses like she does to me! She looked very interested in them since they were such tiny people! After they finished I took her out and brushed her and lunged her and practiced leading, stopping, squaring up, and backing! And after all that she got a bath too! She was very happy to get the attention and was quite a sweet little girl! My cousin Ashley took pictures of us working so that I could send them in to the editor of Young Rider Magazine too! I'll put the pictures we took in the 'All About Scarlett' section on the website for you to see. There are some cute ones! The one I put here is my favorite!
